Introduction to MIO

Using MIO, suppliers can fulfil the contractual requirement to submit data for any sales made on NOE CPC frameworks, or make a nil return if no sales have been made.

The frequency of these submissions will have been agreed with the framework lead prior to go-live.

Suppliers are sent periodic reminders before the submission deadline as well as automated chase emails if no submission has been made.

Why nil returns?

To make sure we have a full and accurate audit of framework activity, suppliers are required to report if they have not made any sales on the framework — a "nil return".

If there is no sales data submitted for a period, that could mean:

  • there were no sales made in that period
  • or, there were sales, but they have not been reported to us.

By reporting nil returns, suppliers can help us save time by not having to chase missing submissions or unpaid ABI.

Registering your account

For security, you will need an account to use MIO.

User accounts are assigned to a supplier record, ensuring that you can submit and view data on behalf of your company.

There are two ways you can create an account:

  • If your organisation already uses Microsoft or Google accounts (for example, Office 365 or GSuite), you can log in with your corporate email and password. Using an external account is quicker, easier and means you'll have one less password to remember.
  • If your organisation doesn't use Microsoft or Google accounts, you can also register a local MIO account. If you are registering a local account, you will need to confirm your email address before we can approve your access.

Once you have created an account, we will check your access is valid and approve your account within a few days. You'll receive an email when your account is ready to use. If you haven't heard from us within a few days, please check your junk mail folder, or contact us for assistance.

Submitting MI

Once your account has been approved, you can log in and submit MI using the "Start a new submission" button on the homepage.

To make a submission, you will need to:

  • Select the return period you are making a submission for from the options displayed.
    • You will also need to select the company and/or framework you wish to submit for if you have access to more than one.
  • Select either "Yes, I have sales and wish to report them" or "No, I have no sales and wish to make a nil return".
  • If you have no sales to report, you can then confirm and submit your nil return.
  • If you have sales to report, you will be prompted to download a template for your framework.
  • Complete the template with details of sales made in the period. Typically, you should enter a row on the template for each invoice line for all invoiced sales. You can click on the header cells in the first row to view a description of what data is required for each column. To help prevent errors:
    • Do not enter text into non-text fields – for example, dates or monetary values.
    • With dates, use the "dd-mm-yyyy" format for best results. For example, 25th February 2022 would be "25-02-2022".
    • Do not enter "N/A", "NULL", "TBC" or similar placeholders in cells with no data. Instead, leave them blank.
  • Once you have uploaded your template, review the summary of the data and ensure it is correct. If there are any errors in your data, you will be prompted to correct them and reupload your file.
  • You can then confirm and submit your sales return.

After submitting your MI, you will receive a confirmation on screen and via email. If you have any issues or want to correct a mistake, please contact us.

Viewing MI

You can also review past submissions on MIO. You can use the search box to filter your submissions. For past sales submissions, click "Download" in the "File" column to download the file you submitted. (You may need to scroll right in the table to view all columns.)

Submitting purchase orders

You can no longer submit a purchase order file for your ABI fee through MIO. If you like, you can enter your purchase order number as a reference when prompted during the submission process.
